Hi, I’m Michelle Gateau, the artist and facilitator behind BrushBreak. I’m an oil painter specializing in portraiture, with a Bachelor’s in Illustration from Brigham Young University and a Master’s in Arts Plastiques from Sorbonne Paris 1.
Alongside my personal artistic practice, I created guided, mobile workshops designed to help explore creativity, collaboration, and focus in a relaxed and engaging way.

I believe everyone is creative. But creativity in a team setting creates a unique dynamic. In our workshops, initial hesitation quickly gives way to engagement, collaboration, and fresh perspectives. These sessions don’t just spark art—they inspire new ways of thinking, communicating, and connecting in your work and beyond.
Four years ago, I started facilitating workshops because I realized that art can impact more than just the canvas. I wanted to bring creativity to unexpected places—offices, community spaces, homes—anywhere people gather but might not expect to encounter art.
BrushBreak workshops combine movement, collaboration, and personal creation. Art is not just the final piece—it’s the process, the energy, and the team dynamic.
I facilitate sessions that help teams, families, and friends:
Reconnect: Shift energy and presence through light movement
Collaborate: Explore communication, problem-solving, and shared creativity
Reflect: Engage in personal expression and leave with tangible takeaways
All sessions are fully mobile and structured to provide high impact in limited time—no prior art experience required.
When I’m not facilitating BrushBreak sessions, you’ll find me in my studio working on portraits and continuing my own artistic practice. Art has shaped my life, and I’m passionate about sharing its transformative power—one brushstroke, one group, one moment at a time.
Let’s help your team recharge, collaborate, and discover what’s possible when creativity leads the way.
